Froggie's Fruity Days

Today's Fruity Expression -Pop Out-

Heeelloooooooo?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 5 years and xxx days old.  Shoot, I was supposed to update this blog more often, but I was kind of busy to prepare for Grandpah's visit to Japan.  Pardon me...  Well, we family have this tradition of playing many games.  Yea, we are all gamers.  I had to plan what to play during his stay.

                                                         *                          *                         *

Anyways, I have been enjoying many watermelons here in Japan.  As many of my punk readers know, I have starterd my fruits business by growing and selling watermelon.  Whenever I eat watermelons, I feel like going back to basic.  Look at me!  I was even wearing the watermelon hat.  I look as if I was popping out of the watermelon!

Me popping out from the watermelon

...So, today's fruity expression for Koji is:   To Pop Out
It means... something is to jump out, or to bounce out, or 飛び出る (tobi deru) in Japanese.  Have you ever heard of "pop-out book (飛び出す絵本 tobidasu ehon)"?  It portrays something lively and vigrously coming out.  Here, you can say, "Oh, oh, Froggie looks as if he is popping out from the watermelon, when he wears the hull."  Yea, I am a watermelon child!  Keekeekee.

                                    Satisfied...

Okay, I finish eating the watermelon.  It was delicioooooooous.

Fruitfully yours,
-FG

Today's Fruity Expression -Go Banana-

Heeeeeeeelloooooooo?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 5 years and xxx days old.  It's been already 2 months since I came to Japan.  It is ultra humid in the afternoon, but very refreshing in the morning and evening.  I enjoy doing aerobics and sweat alot everyday!  Grandpah must be so surprised to see me being well-shaped.  Keekeekee.

Yea...  Actually, Grandpah, Uncle Blue, Washuwashu, Todoh, and Kee-Chang are all coming to Japan next week!!!  You know, I'm only 5 years old.  I still need to be with all the family!  And, we are staying at Tomoko and Koji's place.  I am happy toserve as a translator for Koji and Grandpah.  But, I also promised him to have the English lesson for him.  Ooops...   So sorry, we only have 1 week left...  Pardon me...

                                                                    *           *           *

Anyways, I will teach some useful expressions for Koji until Grandpah comes.  So they can even talk to each other a bit while I am taking a nap.  Huh?  Well... yea...  I am a lil' guy.  I still take a nap everyday.  Otherwise, Mom is yelling at me.  *Blush*  It's so refreshing to sleep after working hard in the farm ...or doing aerobics.  Keekeekee.

It's so hot!!!  I go banana!!!  Em?  Are these bananas?

So.  Here's Today's expression:   To Go Banana!
It means "to go crazy."  You can use this expression like, "Oh, oh, Grandpah bought another shirt!  Grandmah is going banana, and yelling at him!  He already has too many shirts!"  Well... yea... You can also say that "Grandpah also went banana and that was why he bought too many shirts."  Yea...  We are all crazy.  We all go bananaaaaaaaaaah!!!

Fruity summer,

Fruits in Japan -Strawberry-

Hello?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 5 years and xxx days old.  I'm already in Japan!  But I must admit I miss my family.  I'm most worried about Grandpah.  My brother Washuwashu and Uncle Blue are taking care of him, lil bros Todoh and Kee-Chang.  My friend Alfredo kindly dropped by our house to check them out, as promised, and called me yesterday.  He said Grandpah needs to eat more fruits.  Hmm, I agree!  You know, he is an exective of FG's Foods!  He needs more fruits!

To educated Grandpah, I will introduce various fruits in Japan from now on.  A fruit of the day is: Strawberry.

                       Very small strawberry and me

Look, this is from my Great Grandmah's garden.   As many of you have known, both my Great Grandmah hold their own fruit garden.  I'm their proud great grandson!  This strawberry is very small, but very very sweet.  Power for you.  FG's.

Fruitfully yours,
-FG

Alfredo

Hellooooo?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 5 years and xxx days old.  Tomorrow I will go to Japan with Grandmah, Mom and Dad for Grandmah's research.  We will stay there for 3 months.  Hmmm, yea, it means we family stay apart!!!  I'm only 5 years old!  I still need Grandpah.  I can't sleep without him, because he is always taking care of me before sleeping.  It is a problem.  We have to think about it.

Me and Alfredo visiting us. He wants us to get nuts for souvenir.

Actually, my dear friend Alfredo is also worried about Grandpah, so he came to see us off today!  I asked him to swing by our house periodically to check out Grandpah and other family members.  He is so nice, so he promised to do so.

Okay, I will write more later in Japan, because I also promised Alfredo to let him know how we are!

Fruits,

P.S.    Chuck has been renewed!!!  Can't wait!

Fruity Report

Hellooo?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 5 years and xxx days old.  I'm bored now because Grandpah is on a business trip in Chicago and Boston.  I have much to talk to him, but he is not here until Friday!  Huh?  Should I talk to  other family members?  Well, I have already done.  So I want to talk to Grandpah now.

a green guy in Tokyo (Courtesy of Uncle Mike)

Anyways, this photo from Uncle Mike is one of the topics that I would like to have a panel discussion with Grandpah.  Uncle Mike asked me who this duder guy was, but ... I don't know!  I'm only 5 years old!  I have no idea?!  He looks like a green guy —yea, my kind.  Grandmah said he advertised a comic-book cafe.  Okay?  Then, why a frog?  She said, the name of the cafe is "Kera kera" which kind of sounds like frog voice in Japanese.  Huh?  How dare they!  It's "kero kero," not "kera kera."  How tacky.  Daahhh.

                                                 Louis's store

Dad is more interested in the shop logo of "LV" behind the green guy.  Dad was shouting "Hey Louis!  It's Louis's store!" pointing at the upper left corner.
Yea, Louis is Dad's good friend.  Oh, Louis might know something about this green guy, because the guy is working in front of his store.  We'll see.

Nasty fight among me, Mom and Dad over cupcakes

By the way, some of us (only Grandmah,  Dad, and yours truly) will go back to Japan in June.  So Sugimoto, we can have a get-together in both the Bay Area and Tokyo.  I will have to investigate this green guy in the city.

Fruity Greetings

Hellooooooo?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 5 years old and xxx days.  Yea, I am already 5 years old!!!   I'm so embarrassed that I didn't even update this blog on my birthday.  My birthday, March 11, is an anniversary of this blog.  Shoot. Shoot.  My bad.

Actually, I have been busily working on my Grandpah and Grandmah's wedding website.  They were eager to have it on FG's Foods website, I had no choice but to work on it...  Yea... They are kindda annoying...  (Lance, please see my response to your comment...)  Well.  After all, it's a FG's Foods' event.  As a sponser, we have to support them.   Besides, they are Family.

Grandmah has been busy for her Research Assistant job AND battling with allergy to pollen (for the first time in her life!).  Grandpah has been suffering from even worse allergy... as usual.  But we family are also working on their wedding in Maui.  The Reader of this blog will receive SOMETHING soon.  Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, please enjoy this beautiful scenary of ocean in Santa Cruz.

Hello???  This is Vátrakhos Parenthesis Wugatakis (βάτραχος Παρένθεση Ουγκατακισου), 4 years and 8(8 + 8 + 8 + 1) + 3 days old.  Now Grandmah is furiously studying for her oral exam, Parenthesis is helping her out.

Fruity Fireworks

HelloooOOOooOOoO?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 3 years and 8(8 + 8 + 7) days old.  While helping Grandmah study, we family suddenly heard huge sounds.  They were FIREWORKS on campus!!!

                      Me and beautiful fireworks

Grandmah's camera is not so good

I was praying for my family and friends

We don't know why the school had it today, but it was so punk and fruity!  We immediately ran out and enjoyed a moment of life's goodness.

Fruitfully yours,
-FG

P.S.  Grandpah told me that it must have been for the football game that just started on this day.  Grandpah knows best.  And of course, a fruit knows best.  FG's.

Hard Working Fruits

HelloooOOOOOOoooO?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 4 years and 8(8 + 8 + 6) + 1 days old.  It's in the middle of summer, but there are many people who have to work hard.  Hmm...  Well, we are mature.  Mature people are always busy.

              Me earnestly studying about fruits

Our VP of Fruits Product Management Jennie just left a fruity comment on my last entry.   She is also furiously working recently.  But, yea, this is a tuff season, because now is the time for the Olympics!  So tempting, we family can't help watching TV instead of working...  My favorite sport is trampoline.  Unfortunately, either Japan or the US could not win a gold medal this time, but it's so much fun to watch it.  (Incidentally, the Japan guy, who ended up with the 4th place, was the former gold medalist in Athens.)  Other than that, I like watching the Today Show people of NBC enjoy themselves in Beijing every morning.  They are having a good time.  But I hope that they will show more about fruits in China!

Fruitfully yours,
-FG

Fruity Summer Update

me and ajisai in Japan (June 2008)

HelloOOOooO?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 4 years and
8(8 + 8 + 4) + 1 days old.  It's been a while!  I have to apologize to all my fruity customers...  Well, as you may have presumed, we family are having a very hectic summer.  Grandpah started a new job, and Grandmah is preparing for her orals in October.  The Kids are helping them work and praying for them.  Yea, it's a family business.

Mom blocking Dad from reaching Father's Day donut

Since I updated my last entry in April, our life was quite eventful.  So I have much to write!!!  Kato-san, Kyoko-san and Spencer went back to Japan, Sugimoto and Ravi came to California, some of our family went back to Japan for two weeks ...  But again, I will have to hold back from writing about all of these things until Grandmah finishes her orals.  You know, she always needs family's support.  Mom is being her discussion partner, me copying library books, Dad giving massage, and Grandpah listening to her complaints.  Sigh.  Thus, Washuwashu is crazily busy for running FG's Foods all by himself!  Even my friend Alfredo comes to cheer us up!  Well, but this is the way it is for us family...

Dad sending roses to Mom for their 5th anniversary

Anyways, we family are fine.  I promise that I will be back to this blog soon again.  Meanwhile, please have a fruity summer!!!

Stay tuned and fruity,

Fruity Update

Hellooooo?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 4 years and 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 2 days old.  Today I got a question about where my family was recently.  So, I just want to quickly update our whereabouts:  Well, we are in California.  Grandmah has been crazily busy since Spring Quarter started at school.  Yea... She has been freaking out, and giving up almost all social activities.  Along with her work as a TA, she is preparing for her oral exam scheduled in upcoming fall.

Me copying a book at library

I am helping copy books, Grandpah proofreading her English, Mom being a discussion partner, Dad playing inspiring cello music...  All family members are mobilized.  This is truly a total war.  Busy...busy...

Mango Curry

Hello???  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 4 years and 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 7 days old.  I have got a fruity comment from Kato-san, so I would like to write a response as today's posting.

Mango curry and Dad like mango

Kato-san, we family also has eaten Mango Curry at Senbikiya...  Yea, Kyoko-san, it was good!  Let's talk about it next time we meet!  But ...I'm so sorry, Kato-san, you must be the only one who has not yet tried this ...  Please don't get jealous when we are indulging in reminiscences of mango curry.

So, how is your little guy?  Which fruit does he like?  Tell me more.

Fruits in the World -#2 Senbikiya (Tokyo, Japan)

Hello, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 4 years and 8 + 8 + 8 + 5 days old.  I know, I know, it's been too many days since I promised to write about my Tokyo adventure and watermelon incident.  Well, Grandmah was insanely busy, Grandpah was too stressed, Spring has just begun, Tomoko flushed her cell in a toilet, ... There were too many thing to deal with!  You know, I'm only four years old!  I'm just a little green guy!  ...Weeeeell...  Pardon me.  I am still a CFO.  Yea... I am mature.

So, how did I "get" the 42 dollars watermelon at Senbikiya?

...After strolling in the store, Prof. Naomi led us upstairs.  It was a nice fruits parlor!  She said, "You can enjoy the same fruits as the store's here!"  Ooohh...  Same fruits!!!

Mom and Dad got so excited.

Yea, we can eat the dishes cooked with the fruits from Senbikiya!  Very very fruity...  As you know, Mom is so dominating when it comes to sweets.  So she picked some cakes and sweets for all of us.

                          Can you find the watermelon?

Yea, it was so sweet.  It was deliciooooooous.  Thus we family enjoyed the $42 watermelon of senbikiya!  Well, I was honored to eat it, as a watermelon seller.  I learned the heart of watermelon.  And yet, I was determined that I wanted to provide the best watermelon at as cheapest price as possible.  That's my watermelon.  That's me.  That's FG's.

Fruits in the World -#1 Senbikiya (Tokyo, Japan)

Hello?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 4 years and 8 + 6 days old.  We family have been a bit busy to take care of Grandmah who sprained her right ankle and got a raspberry on her left knee while walking in the Dish on Sunday.   A raspberry???  Hmm, sounds so fruity.  But actually, it seems very painful.  Poor Grandmah.  It's okay, she has to study either way, so she can just sit at the desk!  Keekeekee.

Dad enjoying Tokyo view at Prof. Naomi's place

So, today I would like to write about my trip to Japan and about my experience with its fruits.  Yea yea, I got so many eager requests to write about Japan.  As a responsible CFO, I will report the fruits market in Japan in a few future entries.

Goofy me in front of Senbikiya

On December 27, the whole family visited this historical fruits store since 1834.  I was getting a little nervous in front of such an Establishment of Japanese fruits market.   After all, I'm just a peasant who simply loves good fruits!  Well, but at the same time, I am a CFO of FG's Foods.  I am responsible for learning more about good fruits in the world.  Prof. Naomi, my adviser, accompanied me and encouraged me.  So I was fine.

                   Me and watermelons at Senbikiya

Some of the readers of this blog would know that I started my fruits career as a watermelon seller at beach.  I sold them at 5 cents.  Watermelons have been always so special to me —they bring back my original fruit-spirit.  So, I was very interested in Senbikiya's watermelon.  ... WOW.  ¥4,200 per watermelon!!!  That is roughly about $42. Hmmmmm.......  I want to taste it!!!  But how?  Should I buy it?  Okay, I'll go ask Prof. Naomi and family...

Next time, I will write about my first experience of $42-watermelon.  Huh?  Did I buy it?  Well...  I'll tell you later...

Fruits,

Grandmah's Birthday

Heellooooo?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 4 years and 8 + 5 days old.  I'm getting maturer and maturer.  Recently, people even say I'm becoming handsome.  ...Anyways.  This month we Punk family have another birthday person —my beloved Grandmah.

Beautiful rose for Grandmah and handsome me

Grandmah was still so busy for writing a paper as usual on the day, but she was happy to receive many fruity (and funny) wishes and cards from her friends and family.   Grandpah brought her to a Japanese izakaya restaurant with Susan, FG's marketing VP.  They had a very good time.

Mom wonders if she should share her donuts with Grandmah, or not.

                                                   Dad trying to hug Grandmah

Okay, Grandmah.  Go back to work and finish your paper!  Or else, you are gonna have no spring break...

Fruity Birthday To Me!!!

Hellooooo?  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 4 years old!  Yea, I became 4!  Do you know how excited I am?  I feel so mature.

              Me and fruity birthday cake

I had some fruity surprises on this memorable day:
1. The Food Club members celebrated with Faye's yummy spaghetti.  According to Anne, they always celebrate birthdays with spaghetti for long life in the Philippines.  I feel so fortunate.  Thank you my fruity friends.

            Me eating spaghetti with friends

2.  My good friend Alfredo came visit me to say Happy Birthday!  What a surprise!  He was gone for a while during the winter, but he just came back on my birthday.  Grandmah took a video of his memorable return.  Please enjoy his video from here.

Lastly, I should note that today is the 3rd anniversary of this blog "Froggie's Fruity Days."  I sincerely appreciate your visit despite my lazy and slow updating.  I originally started this blog on my 1st birthday in order to tell Grandpah how the family was when we lived separately.  After 3 years, though we family are living together, this blog is still fruitily active to communicate with my fruity customers and friends.   I hope  we can maintain our fruity friendship through my blog, and that we have a good time together!

Fruitiest wishes,
-FG

Hellooooo, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 3 years and xxxxx days old.  AAAAAAHHHHH, I'm confused!  How old am I?!?   Well... It's okay, I'll be 4 years old soon.  I will restart counting.  A little bit embarrassing...

Anyways, I have too much to catch up.  I will slowly write about my winter experience from now on.  I went to Japan, came back to California, met with my old friends...  For today, I will introduce my mysterious experience in Tokyo.

Fruity Update

Helloooooo???  This is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 3 years and 8(8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 5) + 1 days old.  Please forgive me for haven't written for quite a while.  Such a long absence, as long as my arms and legs.  A little bit embarrassing...

Hmm, I have too much to tell everyone.  What should I write first?  Okay, for today, I'll just report on our recent special events:

               Mom enjoys chocolates.  No sharing.

First, Mom got a box of chocolate from Grandmah's friends Molly, Joanna and Philip.  It's from a local historical store "Helen Grace Chocorates" in San Gabriel.  Yea, that's a white elephant gift for her.  (Incidentally, we had a white elephant party on the 14th.)

                                         menorah and dreidel

Next, I had a Hanukkah party for FG's corporate lawyer Mr. Greenburg.  I am happy to see that very stern Mr. Greenburg looked so happy at the party.  (Incidentally, Mr. Greenburg recently moved to our house.  Yea, we are such a big family!)

Lastly, my Dad reached his 5th birthday on Dec. 18!!!  Happy Birthday, Dad!!!   Grandpah and Grandmah organized an adult birthday dinner party in some steakhouse.  (Yea, Mom was jealous.)  Although "there was no hot chicks" (according to Dad), he had a great time appreciating a good meal.

Anyways, we family are fine.  Grandmah has freaked out with her papers as usual, and Grandpah has been annoyed by tons of presentations as usual.  Thus we Kids helped them out.  Ohhhhh, I have to tell you about my new role —Whenever I help Grandmah study, I pretend to be Mr. Parenthesis.  Huh?  Who's that?  Weeell...  Parenthesis is an ancient Greek scholar.  Keekeekee.

By the way, we family are all going back to Japan on the Christmas day.  Stay tuned, and fruity!!!

Fruity holidays,
-FG
